Surging on constant throttle
My Commander surges when I am holding a constant throttle, it seems worse between 55-70mph and in damp conditions.A friend that owned a F1 complained of the same thing and could never cure it.Is it a trait of the bike or can it now be sorted i.e. new ignition etc.Andy

Re: Surging on constant throttle
I found that tweaking the mixture screws on the carbs can have quite a marked effect on the smooth running; my (still) Commander went through a phase of hunting at steady throttle. Try a quarter turn on each, in and out in turn. Record what you are doing each time, it's easy to get lost !!

Re: Surging on constant throttle
I have been playing with the idle screws on the Commander and agree, they do make a difference to throttle surge. I have also noted a difference in resistance on the idle screws so maybe new O rings wouldn't go a miss.
Re: Surging on constant throttle
I`ve never had surging on any of my Commanders. I set the idle screw flush with the chamfer & then never touch it. I used to fiddle 20 years ago & found it made little difference so I let the bikes get on with it in there own ways now. Derek.

Well I found part of the trouble, the in line fuel filter. It looked good but was causing fuel starvation.I am not happy with the fuel tap either as it doesn't seem to give a good fuel flow all the time and yes I have checked the vacum side.Does anyone know what fuel tap it is or a bolt on replacment.Andy
