commander front forks

I believe the forks on the P53 commander are xj900 yamaha.I am doing a winter rebuild and as my forks are quite tatty can i do a straight swap for a later and better yamaha forks keeping my front wheel .hopefully giving a better ride and handling????

Hi the later XJ 900 forks have larger diameter staunchions so you would need to swap the yolks , plus the handle bar mountings will differ. Norton Andover have stocks of fork sliders which are new old stock and will go straight on your staunchions if they are ok . Ive just purchased a pair for a little under £100 and brought my forks back to as new .
