Gel seat

Post by MrB »

The sponge in my seat is getting a tad tired resulting in my backside going the same way after an hours riding. Time for new foam then, preferably with a gel or memory foam topping to boot. Can anyone recommend a suitable vendor of services? Thanks,Johnny.

I had my Commander seat re-covered by a company called Trimania. Hogwood industrial estate, Arborfield, Nr Reading, Berks. 01189 324200 (bit of a job to find them and I lived 5 miles away as a yoof) They did a good job and cost £100. I thought that was a little steep at the time but thinking about it, it's not a five minute job. I suppose memory foam /gel pads would be extra.

I had my Commander seat recovered by a local semi-retired upholsterer for a total cost of £12.00 including materials!!!! Unfortunately he is now fully retired. He used to work at A.M.C. Plumstead in the good old days. Derek.

Thanks chaps. Actually the vinyl is fine as I had it recovered soon after I got the bike. Cost me £20 and it's a good job. The problem I have is with the foam losing its strength. The back part of the seat (dual seat on an IP2) feels strong but the front is weakening. Anyone had a decent foam replacement? Would Txxx (can't see the original recommendation now) be up to replacing a shaped foam?
