wheel balance

Post by johnbirchjar »

Hi guys,
While on my way back from the NOC's International Rally in Spain I was getting front wheel judder(like a wheel out of balance)at speeds over 70mph,I thought that perhaps a balance weight had come off,(couldn't see where though) on Monday I had a new tyre fitted on the front wheel and telling the tyre fitter my problem his reply was"Is this wheel off that old Deauville of yours?"replying "Yes" he nodded,"Thats that big old Top Box,loaded up with clothes and goodies it makes a big weight transfer, off the front wheel, hence the wheel tramp"
One of my favorite saying is "Life is a learning curve",How true.J.B.

I was touring Germany a good while ago with guys from work. Very heavy rain; one guy lost the front end and broke his collarbone. Turned out he was carrying a full chain and sprocket set, plus tools in his backbox - it weighed a ton !!
