Commander layshaft.
I think the layshaft is the same as the Triumph T140v gearbox.If it is (the gears with the exception,i think,of 1st) are the same.Richard Negus will know for sure.

What sort of fuel consumption are you getting from a Commander ??Before my engine was re-built i was getting about 8mls\ltr (about 36 mpg) which i thought was pretty poor. Does a commander really need two batteries ? The only extra item is the daylight running lights which i have fitted a off switch toanyway I use them as fog lights.I am planning to fit an oil catch tank and think the left hand battery tray would be the ideal place. commander voltmeter wiring
I am re-fitting a voltmeter to my commanders fairing (it had been removed in the dim and distant past) There appears to be 3 terminals marked G,S,and,I.Anyone know what colours go where.I have a wiring diagram but i cannot find any mention of the voltmeter.Any ideas would be a great help.Thanks

Good man.Lets all get behind this petition.I do not think the government will bring in emissions/milage restrictions If you have classic insurance read the small print and you will probably find you are restricted anyway.It does'nt take much to disconnect a speedo anyway.So come on ,forward this pet...

I believe the forks on the P53 commander are xj900 yamaha.I am doing a winter rebuild and as my forks are quite tatty can i do a straight swap for a later and better yamaha forks keeping my front wheel .hopefully giving a better ride and handling????
