Selling my Deek -eek!

Chaps, I really need to have a clear out, I've far too many bikes. This is my DKW W2000, a UK bike, as featured in the latest Classic Bike magazine. It runs well and is complete, but would benefit from some cosmetic tidying, the frame paint is quite poor.Ebay advert here:321503844641If an ROC member...

Re: Flying the rotary flag!

Well, it's in the latest issue, just arrived at my fastness. As I suspected, the actual riding references are as rare as our bikes out on the road, it's nearly all culled from period articles, plus a few photographs. Disappointing, to say the least. Still, at least there are several articles on Triu...

Re: Flying the rotary flag!

Well. It was all a bit odd, TBQH. The first half of the day was spent taking static shots, about 100 yards from my shop where they were kept. We then rode out to Cobham and onto the north downs, the rest of the day was taken up performing second gear passes trying to look fast. Total mileage was aro...

Re: Flying the rotary flag!

I think what swung it was that naish liked my Turbo and asked about my other bikes. When they found out I had three different rotaries it makes organising it very straightforward. They'd better turn up, mind, I've taxed and insured all three, the Deek was off the road as I'd planned to restore it, i...

Re: Flying the rotary flag!

Every third sentence, David! No, but the journos are the editor, Ben Miller and John Naish, who rode my turbo last year, which was the moment I punted the rotaries. I think it's a cover article, too, Crikey, best find the polish! CheersATGPaul

Flying the rotary flag!

Hi chapsThis Wednesday, Classic Bike magazine are coming to my place to test the Classic, RE5M and W2000. We will be heading towards Box Hill, late morning, so if you're about rotating, why not come and say Hi, anything we can do to promote the cause is good, right?I'm trying to convey the message t...

Re: Southern Classic Bike Show 24th May 2014

Hi Paulit certainly wasn't a pop at you personally, just a shame when the ROC isn't shown in the best possible light. I know Eric and am pretty certain we could have got papal dispensation on the day smiley What irks is folk like you bothering to organise the flipping' thing and people then not both...

Re: Southern Classic Bike Show 24th May 2014

Very poor turnout today, when I looked in to say hello. Only a Classic and a red Commamder. I mentioned to John that I only live 10 minutes down the road and, had they told me there were so many no shows, I could have brought a couple along. A real shame. Might I humbly suggest a contingency plan fo...

Re: Cold Running

Hi Johnseasonal salutations etc smiley I think you're right, it needs a little fiddling with in order to bring it up to snuff. In so many ways it is the best of the rotaries I've yet ridden, but the graunchy clutch and crap gearbox, plus the cold running issues means that it isn't first pick for rid...

Re: Hey, eyeguy!

Hey Charles!Running very well, thank you!I had just one classic run where it ran like a hound all day and I suspected everything from the carb clogging up to a catastrophic rotor failure. Turned out it was a fouled plug! Hasn't happened before or since, but guess what? I now carry a spare red face J...

Come on then, look down the back of your sofas! I've just acquired a Deek to go with the Classic and RE5 and it will need a replacement tachometer. Mine works, but the bezel is damaged. Any suggestions gratefully received.CheersPaul

The RE5 runs-crikey!

Hi Chapsjust a quick note to say that I've finally got the RE5 running. Here it is, at Richmond lock: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q211/hermansplodge/file-58.jpg Finally managed to get the carb all sorted and set up the cables and port valve. It's a real pain and I still can't quite believe ho...

Well, the RE5 is home...help!

Got it home today, safely MOT'd and the paperwork is with the DVLA for registration. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q211/hermansplodge/file.jpg A few things I've noticed, the fuel tank sender is blanked off, the petrol tap leaks(grrr) after a while, MOT anyone? It runs, but barely. I can only ge...

Suzuki RE5

Hello, me again! The great Negus has almost finished the refurb of my Classic, so I thought I'd celebrate by buying an RE5. It's in good condition, but hasn't run for a while. Looking at the excitable colonists, there seems to be a lot of fuss over oil and filters as well as spark plugs. Any proper, ...

Re: the most bizarre fault-UPDATE

ChapsAfter dismantling the bike and checking every connection, it became apparent that the loom was not at fault. I then fitted new 6V coils, thermal switch, plugs and leads, with no improvement. Finally, the decision was made to fit a complete new ignition setup from NML, I'd considered the Startrig...

Norton Classic wiring query-help!

Apropos my previous posting-Hi ChapsRe: the misfiring Rotary. I've had my electrically aware friend around this evening, who has been busily buzzing out terminals and checking wires. There is an issue-The rev counter is electronic, and according to the wiring diagram has a lead connected to it from ...

the most bizarre fault-help!

Hi ChapsA bizarre problem- my new Classic misfires like a good 'un, backfiring like the retreat from Moscow as it cuts in and out on one cylinder. However, if I touch the horn button and give it a quick 'parp' the misfire disappears and it immediately runs on two again! I'm assuming there's a short,...

Hello, it appears that I now rotate!

Hi Chapsjust popped in to say Hello. I've been nagged for a while now by Frank Westworth to buy a Rotary and so have just done so. I'm now the proud owner of a Classic, number 035, which has only had 2 previous, very long-term owners. I've spoken with Graham and ordered some new plugs, (I like to th...
