FUEL TAP?

Hi guys,had a "first time ever" experiance today,I put allmost 16 ltrs of fuel in the Classic and I had'nt had to switch to reserve!!,very odd,on the rare occasion that I do have to have to use the reserve, 14 ltrs tops the tank up again, I can only put this down to the fuel tap "acting up",can this be fixed ?or will I have to buy a new one,(if they are avaliable.)ride safe,regards,J.B.
