Dear all, is there any one who has delved into the delivery of the oil pump on a w2000? I have done what the book says ‘run on premix until oil comes out of the pipe’(a bit of paraphrasing) and sure enough oil comes out, not a huge amount (guess it doesn’t need much) or under any great pressure. After an engine rebuild the internals seemed to have plenty of oil residue so I am sure it was delivering but couldn’t tell you if it was too little, too much or just right.
Thanks in advance
Roy

Hi Roy
It's a Japanese two-stroke metering pump - made by Mikuni?
Yes, as you have found, oil drips out of it and I guess that's what it is supposed to do?
If you're worried about this, you could always add a little oil to the petrol for peace of mind - but run the risk of plug fouling if you add too much?

Re: W2000 injection system
The Norton rotaries appear to need 1 pint of oil per 450 miles. ( on average ). I tested mine years ago by checking oil consumption against petrol consumption, it did average close to 450.
After an expensive engine build it may be wise to run just on a known premix for a while and let the pump deliver exactly half a pint into a remote container and check against the mileage. If the pump was left alone, just do the mileage test for peace of mind re its' original setting.
Maybe other W2000 owners can relate how far they go on 1 pint of oil ?
Rotary engine bits are expensive !
Regards all.

Re: W2000 injection system
Ah, but the problem might then be insufficient oil going to the roter and bearings first ?
Did'nt think of that........

Re: W2000 injection system
Thanks all for the response and most appreciated. It was always a bit of a concern about the delivery, but after I had to intervene with a noise problem I found the engine internals saturated in oil so was reasonably confident on the oil delivery but maybe thought it was too much.
After the rebuild with new rotor and stationary gear (thanks to Aixro) the motor seems to be happy, not much smoke out the back but happy to bob along for the time being.
Thanks to this forum I managed to sort numerous problems and have various conundrums put to bed.
All the best
