W2000 oil injection

Does anyone know what was the reason for switching to oil injection on the w2000, was this an upgrade or just convenience at the pumps as not having to mix the fuel on fill up?
Was there any issues with injection set up as it just seems to squirt oil into the inlet manifold?
Just looking at starting mine up after a long layup and will start off on premix before switching to the injection set up.

As far as I know, it was simply an upgrade?
