Paul,

I can only comment on Commanders, I do not have any experience with F1's

The original size mechanical seal became unavailable some time ago so Graham found a slightly larger seal that required the housing to be machined. As I did not want to machine my pump housing I found a 2 part seal which works well.

If you search here for "water pump seal" you will find a lot of info on this subject and also a link I provided for the size of the 2 part seal and the supplier.

If still having difficulties finding the seal let me know.

Thanks perfect going to order three and give it a try.

Did you add sealant to the brass tin on fitting I was thinking of using threebond and replacing the oil seals and bearings.

Cheers Paul

Paul,

Yes it very important that you do add some kind of sealant where the fixed part pushes into the casing, I use blue hylomar but anything will do.

While you are in there it would make sense to fit new bearings and lip seal.

Anthony Andover Norton now have all the original parts in stock or on order for the Commander pump and F1.
I have just refurbished a Commander and F1 pump to check parts and must say everything went really well.
I think Norton Motors will be offering a refurbished pump offer where you send your pump and it comes back all new parts to factory standard.
