police commander different panniers

as an addendum to my other post i have found the problem there are 2 sets of panniers for a police commander the ones ive got are not off a civilian p53 as there are recesses for the clips on the side the civilian has a key lock on the top
a man on this site called peter so kindly sent me pictures of his p52 and you can see from the picture his is slanted to miss the shocks and albeit slightly larger mine as in the picture are straight down like the civilian p53

Hi Trev,

This forum certainly gives bountiful information.
Glad I was able to help with photos of my P52 police Commander. Never knew the panniers and centre moulding of P52 (police Commander) and P53 (civilian Commander) were so different. The pannier locks on side only on the P52 give it away. Every moulding at the rear of P52 is different and not interchageable with the mouldings on rear of civilian P53.

Yes peter but these panniers are off a p52 bought them off a loverly man in tydelsly called bernard and he removed them 20 years ago to change his police bike to a civilian commander
I am hoping to speak to graham at startrite tomorrow see if he can throw any light on these panniers
As you saw from my pictures the p53 panniers locks on top but these ive got have a clip on the side like yours but flat sides instead of angled as bottom 2 pictures
Will get there eventuly
I am at the mo getting a company i sell spray equipment to cutting me a tapered piece of ash wood to fit between
If its good enough for morgans
