Interpol 2 Rotor Housings Race Tuned?

I have a pair of rotor housings for an Interpol 2 (air cooled rotary) that have had the inlet ports enlarged. They were on a bike that went like hell but wouldn't tick over smoothly, it hunted at low revs in traffic. What it did do, however, was that when the revs picked up it had tremendous acceleration.
