Leaking Fuel Filler

Post by rotarian »

I have just noticed that my fuel filler is leaking .I have a Classic replica and the fuel filler I believe is a Harris item, as recommened by the tank maker, who made them originally. When I brake and the fuel rushes forward it comes out at the front below the flange, I have removed the filler and there is only a thin gasket, does anyone have an idea what sealer I could use, which is petrol proof, and can withstand todays unleaded fuel?

I can now answer my own question! I spoke to my next door neighbour, who restores cars, he advised me to use a thin piece of cork to make a gasket, and he had some american instant gasket that said on the tube gasoline proof, success, no leaks, (so far),
