Commander handlebars

Post by PhilipFleming588 »

Here's my first post!

Have recently bought a Commander and would like to fit new handlebars because the one's on the bike have poor chrome and the brake and clutch levers hit the fairing on full lock. Neither Andover Norton nor Startright have them in stock at the moment.

Does anybody know a source of original style bars, or are there alternatives with similar dimensions from an other motorcycle eg Yamaha FJ900 ?

All suggestions gratefully received

Regards
Philip

As everything else on the front end is Yamaha I would guess that the original bars are also Yamaha.

Have a look at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373109560911 ... olid=10001

As I put on the Faceache site, I got a set of stainless from Graham years ago. You might like to try him.

Thanks Ian, I did contact Graham but he has sold out of the stainless steel bars he had made. That's why I'm reaching out to the wider (educated) community to see if there are alternatives

I had bars from a Yamaha RD350 YPVS on mine. If anything, a little more comfortable than the originals.
Available in black paint or chrome off eBay.

Phillip they are standard bars on yours thats how they are. You can adjust slightly but yes the levers are close / touching at full lock.

Also the bars on the Commander were special order for Norton and were not taken from another model bike, as Mr. Negus states 350LC is a close fit but changes the angle and bar reach slightly.
