Oldham Coupling Lubrication

Post by Anthony Duffield »

This may be of interest.

Last year prior to attending the International rally in Italy I prepared the Commander and amongst other things greased the oldham coupling, having just returned from the IoM I decided last night to re-grease the coupling finding the coupling to be OK but very dry, the bike had covered 5683 miles.

It seems that these couplings need more regular greasing, perhaps nearly 6k miles is too long, as it is not a big job I will re-grease at 4k miles just in case.

I'm not sure whether Richard Negus does it now, but when he was at Rugeley, he redesigned the Commander water pump
to allow the Oldham coupling to be greased via a grease nipple.
