Norton UAV engine on alcohol
Norton UAV engine on alcohol
Has anyone run one of these on alcohol? I was wondering if it would run cooler. I understand you would still have to mix oil with the alcohol.Thansk.

Not that I've heard - but the Hitec Norton hill climb car (with an F1 motor) ran a methanol/nitro mix quite successfully. You have to run a compatible oil and, as methanol is hygroscopic, run the engine finally on gasoline to remove all traces or corrosion will result, particularly on the eccentric shaft journals.Even though the Hitec engine was fan-cooled, methanol still found its way past the side seals and onto the shaft.
Just a bike-less old fogey now. Boo-hoo!
