Hello from Australia!

Post by SURGE »

Hello all!As the subject states I am from Australia and I have Nortons in my blood and am nuts about Rotaries.I currently own a 1971 750 Commando Roadster that I have owned since I was 18. Prior to that the bike was owned by my father who restored it when he was in his 20s. He also owned a mint 850 Commando and plenty of other old brit iron. As a kid I remember the old man going on about the Norton Rotary but they are fairly rare to see over here unless you head to a museum.I also own a 2006 Mazda RX8 and prior to that had a 1981 RX7 with a mild port series 5 RX7 13BT engine converted to N/A (for ease of rego). My other toys include a blown 5 litre v8, a go kart, a pulse jet, plenty of audio gear, etc. etc. etc.I dont currently own a rotorcycle but am keen to get hold of a Norton rotary. A quick google search for rotorbikes for sale landed me here so hopefully I'll have one soon.Adam

Hi Adam! The club does have members in Perth, WA - as well as in the others states. There are a few rotary Nortons in Australia, but RE5s and W2000s seem to predominate.Like the photo .... is it on your arm or your leg?David

Hey David. Thanks for the welcome :)Oh.. am glad to hear that there are a few people around here there are keen on rotor Nortons. I know of a couple of RE5's in Perth but opportunities to buy them don't come up too often. There was an RE5 engine on ebay a few months back that went for $600ish (340 pounds approx) and there is a JPS F1 advertised on www.bikesales.com.au for $39,000 (22,000 pounds approx). That one is well out of my price range but looks awesome.Am stoked with the rotor tatt. It's on the back of my leg. If someone can get me a good pic of a Norton rotor's face I'd be tempted to put one of those on my skin too :)
