Re5 oils

Post by CBracing »

Hi all are there any preferences to oils used in your bikes.
Gear box
Transmission
Metering tank
I’ve been told Castrol 20w50w in all also
10w40w in clutch
and 2t in metering tank.
What do you guys use and why.

Hi CB

I too use GTX in the engine sump ..... but Rotella DD+40 in the metering tank.

Why?

Because it’s what rotary Nortons use, and so I have plenty to hand. It’s cheap. It burns clean. And nearly 40,000 miles on, the bike is still going!!!

The club has a stock which it can decant to Club Members ... and if memory serves, it’s £3 a litre.

I have some in Essex.

And so does Dave Weighell in North Yorkshire.

Where are you?

Well, that’s not a million miles away from Chelmsford, if you ever fancy a trip north of the river.

Remember to bring an empty 5 litre can with you.

Are you a club member?

I have joined but don’t have a news letter yet.
I could ask mark whyman if he has one as he’s seen my post about oils.
If not I’ll have to get me Crystal ball out and give it a clean and see what I can do.
I’ve looked around and you can only get Rotella in 20lts and 209lts
