Oh yes, should have said thanks for the links chaps. Lesson learned. I'll keep both links though, the forum is easier to use outside the main site.J.

That's interesting - where is the HOME PAGE? Re: out dated web site

I too had wondered how the funding for this site worked, but not being a geek at all I had no idea what it may be so it just remained as a thought. Now I know I take my hat off to you Graham for your generosity in both cash and time for creating and supporting this board - I've got loads out of it i...

Re: Discoloured primary chaincase oil

Thanks to David for the back issues of The Epitrochoid which included some informative and entertaining reading. It seems oils are possibly the longest running debating point amongst Rotarians. How fortunate Norton owners are in that we have four oils to argue over - er, I mean discuss - compared to...

Re: Rotors

Looks cool. Would have been better if it was fixed on the primary drive end of a spinning rotor shaft. Admittedly it would need a big display shelf and would cost more than the average clock to run. And it would make more noise. And cooling might be a problem too. Minor problems aside though, it cou...

Recommend a crash hat?

Time for me to buy a new crash helmet. Right now I have an Arai FV full face and a cheapy open face. I use the Arai for long distance and the open face for local low speed stuff. I've tried on the new Arais but I find they crush my cheeks. This brought back memories of when I got my first Arai - I t...

You too were going to Halfords? There's a pattern emerging here, maybe Chris (a few posts back up) was right! If there was a prize going for dealing with issues like this it would definitely be awarded to Grahams' mate - marvellous story. Probably the best thing to do with a such a miserable traffic...

Re: ROTELLA OIL

I had a similar problem with my IP choke. I took off a clip at the choke knob end and found a plastic friction piece in contact with the shaft. I cleaned the aluminium shaft and plastic friction piece with carb cleaner and cleaned around the plastic pieces' housing. Put it all back together and it's...

Re: petrol taps

Hi Steve,I reset the trip meter everytime I fill up. Once I hit 150 I switch to reserve when convenient knowing that I must fill up soon. As I get towards 200 I stop cruising and seek a garage (probably a little conservative but I don't relish pushing). I did get a tap for the left side from Graham ...

Re: Discoloured primary chaincase oil

The slip was caused by the original distortion in the plates resulting in something less than full surface area contact between the plates (well, that was my conclusion anyway). Bending them straight certainly helped a lot but there was still detectable slip at high speed under full load, I guess ag...

tax disc nicked

Some swine nicked my tax disc on Saturday whilst parked outside Halfords in Stevenage. It was there before I set out, gone when I got home. The holder was a traditional type which, although secure enough not to fall apart whilst riding, was easy to get into. Can anyone recommend a secure holder?Johnny

Re: interpol 2 gearbox oil

I've come to the conclusion that EP is too sticky. I've tried a few commonly available types of the EP 75 to 90 types. All result in poor neutral selection and a klonky gearchange. Having been off the road for three years I forgot what I had learned (oh dear!) and refilled with Castrol EP80. Found i...

Hi Derek,I've been messing about with mine for seven years. One of my quests is a perfect clutch (if Graham W reads this he'll laugh his socks off as he told me it wasn't possible at the beginning!)When I first got mine the clutch was diabolical, at least I thought so. A strip and clean up improved ...

Discoloured primary chaincase oil

Advice please. Whilst I had the engine out of my Commander engined IP2 (Commanderpol?) I stripped and rebuilt the clutch as the rubbers were shot and the plates were sligtly distorted causing it to slip on full power - it was like this when I bought it some 15K miles ago. It's had new bearings, new ...

Re: erratic running

One small offering, I had similar trouble with a Tiger 90 many years ago. It would run fine for miles but then splutter to a halt or run erratically. Leave it to rest for a while and on it would go for a few more miles then the problems would start again at some point but with no particular pattern....

Hello!

Hi,I'd like to say hello to everyone having recently joined the ROC forum after a slight seven year delay from when I first acquired my Norton. I ride a water cooled Interpol 2, probably best described as a twin of Graham's Interpol as he put mine together some years ago. I'm based in North Hertford...
