Re: Norton's are Racing again?
They are going for the fastest lap of an air cooled pushrod twin! Same as the world speed record record for rotary motorcycles in a class that doesn't exist.

Re: New Nortons !
What people forget is that their bid commands an added premium for the auctoneer (17%) plus Value Added Tax (21%), so if you bid, say, 1.000 Euros you pay in fact 1.4157 Euros, i.e. nearly another 50%.

Re: New 695cc Norton Rotary in MCN
Bob Rowley and Richard Negus looked at the drawing and pointed out how inlet port, exhaust port and spark plug were positioned in relation to eachother. A rotary two-stroke with 1:1 compression?

Re: UAV Engines
if its not economical to make parts for a commando be it mk1, where will that leave F1, F1 sport and classic owners who wish to keep their bike original ,with production runs of less than 200 made this may become hard task. Zfd, Do Andover intend to restock unavailable rotary items for example a co...

Re: UAV Engines
Sorry to hear you were disappointed with these badges. I have yet to find any that are 100% as original, and these are by far the best reproductions I have come across. The demand for them is minimal- only the very early Commandos had them-, so Andover Norton buys them in. With the small numbers sol...

Re: UAV Engines
Sorry to hear about the current spares situation! But I am confident that in the long run the rotary parts supply will improve. Getting the stuff to Hungerford to a team that does nothing but organize stores and ship parts every day must be better than Pete being on constant overload, organizing Com...

Re: The new Norton Rotary
Stuart Garner told me at the Donington Festival that Joe Seiffert refused to sell him any of the drawings for the 588cc Norton rotary, which sort of forced his hand to go the 'design it from scratch' route ... they must be quite busy at the Donington factory because the email I sent them in October...

Re: Who designed the Hislop bike?
I recall Bob Rowley and I visiting Hawtal Whiting in Leamington (you know, that well-known motorcycle styling company whose logo is on the back of 1000's of truck bodies) to view, at their request, the clay model of the F2. We pointed out that there wasn't enough steering lock and that the seat was...

Who designed the Hislop bike?
A mistery is solved at last! In the orbituary for David MacDonald (Cumberland News, 13 November 2009) we read: "In the late 1980s David was appointed by the Midland Bank to sort out the failing Norton motor cycle company which he did and along the way designed the 1992 record-breaking rotary-en...

Richard may remember the Gulf bike was shipped to Germany for emissions work, repainted a bright and cheerful black and sold off. The gulf livery was pretty terrible anyway.

Re: norton in GP`s ?
I think there are several points to keep in mind- we are not only talking about 50bhp more in the 1000cc class, we are talking fully sorted, fully proven race bikes against a prototype that is practically untested and based on 15 year old technology (though updated in some respects). This year, agai...

Re: norton in GP`s ?
"Norton will return to motorcycle racing with a rotary to beat all the other rotaries out there!" Comment from an Aussie forum, I hear.
