Hi Derek, Good to meet you at Stanford Hall; welcome to the ROC. I am not at my home computer at the moment but later this week I shall have a look at the club records and see if I can locate any of your past rotaries. David

Re: ROTELLA OIL

Andy, don't fall into the trap of confusing simple and basic with "poor quality"; I would contend that Rotella DD+40 is a very pure low-ash oil and ideally suited to rotary engines' total-loss lubrication systems. Importantly for such a consumeable item, it costs just £2.50 per litre from ...

Re: your spark plug query, NGK C8E (or if you're feeling flush, then the Iridium CR8EIX ) seem normal Commander wear .... the ROC has them for £3 and £6.50 each, respectively. How often should they be changed? When they stop working I guess, but mine have been in for 5,000 miles so far and are still...

Re: Batteries for the Commander

The ROC still has plenty of new (dry) Varta batteries to fit the Nortons at £22 each, here in Essex .... the downside is the £9 or so postage for a single one to be sent within the UK.DC

My IP2 forks are also very stiff ... lighter fork oil seems to have had only a limited beneficial effect. I will be interested to hear what you discover, but a pattering front wheel does seem to suggest a balance problem.DC

The ROC has plenty of Rotella DD+40 in stock at £2.50 per litre ... I remember Richard telling me years ago that in his opinion, there was no difference in the lubricating quality of either oil ... only in the price.

Re: New rotary enthusiast :-)

Hello Victor, welcome to the forum. Norton used a F&S KC27 as a test bed (in a very rusty W2000) during their rotary development - and the rotor seals are the same - as well as the capacity of 294cc. Even the Norton rotors can be used in a KC27 although the balance needs to be checked because th...

Opie Oils

This company recently invited the ROC to join in their club discount scheme for motorcycle oil. Whether or not they can offer any real savings I don't know, or even any oils suitable for rotaries, but given that it was free, the ROC (and that's you, the members) can partake in their scheme. DC

Dave hi! Hagons are quite close to me and it would not be a problem to drop off or collect stuff. As an aside, the ROC once did a bulk purchase of W2000 shocks from them; would there be any interest in a similar job lot for Commanders? DC
