Re: Hi new to rotaries, is Mr Cameron still around?
Hi there!
Yep, still alive and kicking ... last time I looked!
This is all rather familiar...... I seem to remember you thinking I had bought a CB500F ..... but I cannot recall ever buying one!
(That’s not to say your memory is not better than mine!)
Welcome hback to) the world of rotaries.

Re: Classic up for Auction
Hi Dale, Beware! This is not 1 of the 100 Classics made ..... It is one of the machines used by the police, and then converted to ‘civilian’ use afterwards. If it were a Classic, it would have matching frame and engine numbers LE-xxx (001 to 100). More likely than not, it will have a frame number of...

Re: My "Sign Off"
Because ‘ride’ is is verb .... a ‘doing’ word .... and an adverb describes how the verb is done .... and usually ends in ‘LY’.... eg/ quickly, slowly, safely, noisily, busily, etc you get the picture?
In ‘be safe’ I would consider ‘safe’ to be an adjective?

Re: Bing carburettor problems
I had something similar with my 'oil-injection' W2000 Geoff a few years ago; never with the petroil one. I wondered if it was the 25:1 mix that was lubricating the piston in the carb, absent in the o/I version? Just a smidgeon of oil in with the fuel (Rotella 30 or 40, or Silkolene 2T I think it was...

I think you'll find the four digit number '4xxx' on the headstock; not always easy to spot with the fairing.

Re: exchange rate
The official Euro exchange rate is standard through the EU but banks etc will each have their own rates, just as in the UK where it’s wise to shop around to find the best deal.
Why on earth do you not use ‘plastic’ when you’re abroad John? You will get the best rate of exchange by doing so!

Re: Norton Rotary Classic (BSA) on ebay
John,
Prospective Classic Owners could choose a frame number of their choice, so long as it had not already been chosen.
So, if your lucky number happened to be (say) 99, you could have LE-099, even if it happened to be the first one of the production line.

Re: Cast Iron Discs
Mick, my IP2 is now living in Austria .... I’m not sure what material the discs were.
The RE5’s are certainly stainless-steel; the W2000’s are cast-iron beneath the chrome plating (which I have had skimmed off).

Re: Cast Iron Discs
Mick,
We’re both of a similar vintage .... you must remember the discussions which took place in the 1970’s about cast-iron v. stainless-steel as brake disc material?
I think I would rather put up with this rusting you describe rather than have a pretty bike whose brakes did not work in the wet.
