Channel 4 Car SOS Mazda RX-7

Apologies if this is old news. Last night just happened to tune into Car SOS on channel 4 episode 7 where the presenters were going over a Mazda RX-7. Quite interesting discussion concerning the rotary engine, I thought the compression tester was a neat piece of kit being able to show the compressio...

Re: Wits End

John, I have had a similar problem of when cold the right hand side would not pick up until warmed up, I found the cold start jet (the arrangement that the choke cable is connected to) blocked with dirt, once cleaned out it now pickes up and runs well even when cold. How many turns out from fully cl...

Re: Idle Rod Length

John,

20.5 cm is the set length, there is still a good bit of adjustment left but not required on my bike.

As long as the choke lever at the throttle butterfly's is properly aligned and you have the rod in the correct hole in the plate at the carb end 20.5 cm should be close enough

John, My Commander has a 3 phase alternator. 3 phase means it has three wires it produces unregulated alternating current (ac) alternator is another word for generator, unregulated because as the engine speed goes up down so does the output from the alternator. Re: Thurmal Coupling

The sender, the thing with one wire and attached to the engine, has a certain resistance when cold, as the engine warms up the resistance changes. The temperature gauge passes a small current ...

Re: Interpol 'will not start when hot

Ned,

See attached description of the LED sequence hopefully it will help.

A hot engine that will not start is often due to a lack of compression, not sure if the rotaries are the same. Once warmed up will it run well and pull hard?

Let us know what you find

John, My TOM TOM came with a USB lead so I fitted a USB adaptor, the downside with the one I purchased off E Bay is that it has a blue back light, which distracted me when riding at night, the solution was to cover the face of the adaptor with black tape.
