Re: NSU RO80,

Hi Jannes,

Yes, I still have the Ro80 - one day I will put it back on the road - the engine and gearbox are good, but the body needs a bit of work.
Still not too bad for a 47 year old car. It was our first car!
For oil, I use(d) our old friend Shell Rotella 30.

I wonder if this is Jim Dudley’s old bike? (Though Paul Johnston has a similar bike .....)

Old-sweat club members might remember him?

I am told 14 ltrs can be squeezed into the tank after 50 miles.

That sounds thirsty to me.

F1 thirst

Here's a question posed by a Swiss member, currently working on a F1 (owned by a French chap ….) This bike, when full, will go onto reserve at just 50 miles! It still has the Mikuni carbs. Any ideas where he should start looking to explain this great thirst? All suggestions welcome …. Merci beaucoup...

Hi Jannes,

No, if the owner moved from one county to another (eg Essex to Devon), or even from England to Scotland, the registration number would not necessarily change.

Maybe the owner was a Mr Norbert Oswald Atkinson?

Have a look at this Deek coming up for sale at the NMM at the end of the month.

Clearly, Classic 044 is not alone at being rebadged as a BSA??

Very odd, some people ……

Re: KM48 owner in Australia

I have had similar with the W2000’s KC27 engine.

The ‘rubbing’ surface of the eccentric shaft broke up / pitted where it ran in the bearings, giving the awful sound you describe.

Maybe strip it down to see if your shaft has these pits?

I have had a response to the article in the latest mag.

One member has expressed an interest in ten of the UG80PV plugs for his IP2.

Anyone else? Remember it’s a box of 100, so only another 90 to go!!!

Last saw this in the flesh many years ago when it belonged to a chap who lived next to the Mid-Hants Railway; could it have been Medstead? It was, as I recall, a rather er, distinctive, metallic lime green colour.
