The Avons are great no problem

Keep standard especially on rear as it can rub if you get a standard profile. Avon Road riders are very good or Bridgestone BT45 my choice.

I replace the old plastic tubes with silicon vacuum hose which works really well and available in nice black colour

Also the bars on the Commander were special order for Norton and were not taken from another model bike, as Mr. Negus states 350LC is a close fit but changes the angle and bar reach slightly.

Trevor you are looking for the alignment as the spring is taken up just seating the needle to stop fuel flow. Phillip they are standard bars on yours thats how they are. You can adjust slightly but yes the levers are close / touching at full lock.

I use one of the cheap oil change pumps that you use down the dipstick hole, they clean out the tank really well. Yes if stood absolutely check and lubricate the oil pump and couplings for sure. Drain everything and replace new and as JB stated plenty of oil preferably Silkolene Classic 2T Also the Yamaha brakes seize every time you look at them so check and clean and of course if stood complete carb strip and ...

I did a little write up on the French many years ago when I was looking for it. It was thought to be in Australia but in fact it was locked Way in Folkestone in a damp garage sine 1981.
