Re: ?

Dave, My Commander is at AN as well. You might have seen it there. The grey one with a big gap where the engine should be. Luckily the engine is fine. Needs a bit of tlc.
Looking forward to getting it back.

<t>Hello All,<br/> I have been using Morris Golden Film Ring Free XHD40 since I bought the Commander in 1990. I have had no issues arising from the use of this oil and intend to keep on using it as I have been given a barrel of the stuff which will keep me going for the foreseeable future if you do ...

Re: Wankel Treffen 2019

We're back from the treffen and it was a good one. Four of us from England went along and had a nice ride. I did have a backfiring Commander for a few miles on the return journey which was probably a fouled plug but it cleared after a bit of a thrashing. It was a bit noisy going through a few small ...

Quite right David. As a fellow member of the ROC grammar committee, I agree standards must be upheld. It's as bad as using a preposition to end a sentence with.
Then there are commas and apostrophes.....

Re: Popham Megameet 2017

Paul, At the time you declared yourself Billy no mates as you thought no one was coming. As it turned out you had loads of mates on the day no doubt helped by the offer of tea and biscuits. We all had a good day. Thanks for sticking with this event organising which can at times feel disheartening, I...

Paul,
Don't we count as mates then?
Joe and I have asked to come!
At least that will make four with Roy.
That's twice the sign up I usually get when I try to organise events.

Hopefully the weather will be good and a great day will be had by all attending. Look forward to seeing you the...

Well, So far it's a stand for three. If we get a few more I will ask if we can be allocated a space but it would be good to know numbers. Last time I organised something here it was just Paul and I. It did mean we were able to have a nice lot of room until a load of modern Triumphs squeezed in. It i...

Re: Southern Classic Bike Show 24th May 2014

Paul,Your efforts organising the shows are much appreciated. It is an unfortunate fact that despite a lot of hard work, things don't always go right. It is not fair that criticism is often aimed at the organiser of an event who has no control over attendance on the day.I also feel it is not that the...

Re: Commander wont keep running

Banjoman,Sounds like the ballast resistor has gone open circuit.Try digging it out from the electrical bits on the offside and connecting the two wires attached together. It should then start and run albeit with 12v going through th coils instead of 6.Then when you replace the resistor make sure to ...

Re: Only runs with starter pressed??

Dave,That's an easy problem to fix if it is the same as when it happened to me.I was in France at the time back in 1990 and nobody there knew anything about rotaries.Same symptoms but no-one knew what to do. The bike was trucked home and after a phone call to Norton I had the bike running in minutes...

Re: Commander overheating

Had the same problem on my Commander recently. It went from running at the normal hot of 90-95 to very hot 110-115.I noticed the top of the radiator was incredibly hot and no return to the header tank. I tried the wire in the hole at the top to no avail. Today I thought I would try a bit harder and ...

I was looking through my copy of the Brooklands Bulletin when I came across an article about the Brooklands Spring Motorcycle Gathering on 18th April. The gathering is open to anyone on any motorcycle which will be parked on site as part of the display. New things like ours would not be able to run o...
