Re: Single speed Commander

Hi Mike, glad you sorted out your minor woes, and that the dear old bus is still running well. I did swap the hangers around to provide extra comfort. I did also drop, at standstill, the bike quite some time ago, so that explains the dinks. Did anyone get Fido the IP2 running right ? I would love to...

Re: Drax Diaries - engine numbers

Hi Again this is rotary related (mostly) ! The East Coast Chapter of the NOC, with me as Treasurer, went for a spin out a couple of weekends ago. I have to report that I was on my latest effort at a track bike, a Ducati 900SS, what a snip at £1320 ! In my defence, of the six riders that showed, only...

Drax Diaries, the Final Chapter

It is with a deal of sadness that I have to report that, following the departure of the TRL.Com, Fido has also found a new home. I could have sold it several times over. It went because I could not get the idle issue sorted out, and was not therefore prepared to invest in a Madden exhaust, deemed ne...

Re: Drax Diaries

Summer Update, It’s been a goodly while since my last post, a lot’s been happening !!The TRL Commander has found a new and very appreciative home, after a bit of a mid-life crisis forced a rethink in Drax’s most famous garage. This was brought on by a small case of angina, then some minor replumbing...

HI Gents, I seem to remember having seen a figure of 350 miles per litre, but I'm sure that the Commander does a bit less than this figure, and you also end up doing more miles that you thought - so take plenty !, cheers and have a good trip - dp

Re: Drax Diaries

You will be aware that TRL .Commander did not go on fleebay, not a bid at the bargain price of £4,000 - I must admit that I am a bit stunned at the lack of interest in this wonderful machine. I do have a couple of guys interested, and hope for a result this weekend. The bike and I have just had a 3 d...

Re: Drax Diaries

Thanks for your support IP2471, I should keep it I know, but what with the Beemer in the garage and the bank account dipped well below the horizon, it's time for a change. I will regret it I know, just like I did selling the Velo Viper, the R100/7, and recently the VFR 750. I am a bit of a makala th...

Re: Surging on constant throttle

I found that tweaking the mixture screws on the carbs can have quite a marked effect on the smooth running; my (still) Commander went through a phase of hunting at steady throttle. Try a quarter turn on each, in and out in turn. Record what you are doing each time, it's easy to get lost !!

Well, no-one wants the TRL.Commander, well at anything like a reasonable price ! What did you think of my advert on fleebay ? Was my starting price too low, or have I spent too much (and therefore am asking too much) on the beast to make it a tempting proposition ? It has got to be worth more than t...

Re: Commander and F1 for sale on Ebay

Seems a lot for an un-moly'd bike with no history - makes the TRL (fully sorted) Commander seem like decent value. And while I may not be an enjineer, at least I can spell the name of my bike !! Good luck to however bought it - was it one of "us" ?

Hi you cranky/sensitive/grumpy/loveable lot ! Next time you are ready for some new rubber, you might want to think about Avon Roadriders. As I have reported elsewhere, a mate of mine with much more & varied experience than me - reported that they make Fido (sans fairing) feel like a 250 moto- cr...

Re: Front forks IP2

Has the bike been stood a while ? Fido used to pogo down the road when I first got it, a check on the balance machine showed them to be well out of round - cured with new rubber. Are you going for Battax 45s ? They seem to suit these bikes well. Good Luck dp

Hi Rustynuts, the other way to get more speed is to lose weight and make better use of the power the engine has to offer. My take on this is to (so do the opposite) is to try one of Geoff's lightweight exhausts. I am not sure how many more BHP are liberated, probably not too many. What is for sure i...

Hi David, I am no expert, ( proven several times !) but I have had three engines that would not start, and after doing all the checks that you have carried out, it came down to poor compression every time. Your mileage is most impressive, the seals are bound to be pretty worn by now. When you say the...
