the little bubbles will be humidity blisters in the paint, a very common problem with painting fibreglass if everything is not perfectly dry.

Repair kits are available from Ikon and the seals etc fit the old Konis without problem. I have rebuilt the ones on my Commander and they work fine or at least as well as they ever did regards Terry

Another item Im trying to source is the 'budget locks' for the lids of the panniers and the removable panels in the fairing. Andover no longer have stock, does anyone know of a source?

Fog driving lights Commander
Hi Im still looking for a source of the fog/driving lights on the front of a Commander, has anybody found a source? Whelen the makers still seem to be active but I don't find anything the same size on the website. I was hoping for a modern LED equivalent but they all seem much bigger regards Terry

Commander day time/fog lights
Hi does anyone have a pair of the fog/day running lights above the headlight for a Commander fairing. Or has anyone found anything that is a modern replacement? The reflectors on mine are past their best and one of the lenses has melted slightly? regards Terry

Re: Parts general
If you have an original lens as a pattern then it is possible to make a silicone mould from that and with the appropriate resin cast a new lens. We do this at the car restoration place where I work to make NLA lenses. It really needs a pressure pot and a vacuum tank to get the air bubbles out of the...

Gearbox oil
Hi all now that Im getting close to being able to start my Commander after a complete rebuild of the bike I wondered what the current thoughts are on the best oil to use in the gearbox? Commander in New Zealand
Hi some months back I purchased a Commander in New Zealand, probably one of only a handful here and maybe the only NZ new one. The original owner airfreighted the bike to New Zealand and I still have the original invoice for this, it wasn't cheap! He did 84,000 miles on the bike and it was getting v...

Re: Commander colours
Thanks for the info on the colours everyone. Im sure the Jaguar grey was a good choice for the 'look' Norton obviously wanted, very BMWish. However it looks a totally different beast in the candy red but somewhat drab in the Jaguar colour. Although I was keen on keeping it original I don't think I c...

Hi did Commanders ever come in any colours other than the metallic silver/grey? I have seen photos of red and blue bikes but are these just repaints? I recently bought some Commander bodywork which is red but they were clearly silver grey originally regards Terry

Commander fuel tap seal
Further to the discussion in the post about carb tuning re the Commander fuel tap appearing to be a Suzuki item. I happened to have the Suzuki seal mentioned 44376-31050 and Im afraid that doesn't match the seal in my Commander tap, its much too small. That seal is for a GT750 amongst others, so I w...

Re: Commander gearbox
Now I have the gearbox apart it seems 3rd gear is the least of my problems. The mainshaft bearing had collapsed and virtually every gear has damage. It seems layshaft 4/5 gear and layshaft 1st are also not available new, does anyone know if they are interchangeable with any other model?
