Re: Commander Gearbox Wanted

I changed the transmission oil on my Classic from 85/140 to the Redline 75/250 and the rattly noises on deceleration almost completely went away, I am calling it a success. Very Happy

Re: Tach goes to 10000rpm when bike is switched on

The repaired tach did not read correctly when the bike was running. The rebuilder did not set it up take a signal from the coil. I sent it back to him to correct it . The last communication I had with him was 3/25/2025 shown below : After that nothing , no call returns, emails, the tach is lost. I f...

Re: Classic side stand and starting issues

With my Classic with oem wiring I simply pulled the red/black wire out of the plug going into the stock ignition , allowing the side stand switch to turn on the ss light but not kil the ignition.

#6---- Are you referring the twin plug for the side stand switch? Mine was forced backwards, I changed it to be correct, but never thought it was an issue either way.

Re: Tach goes to 10000rpm when bike is switched on

I am not confident that my tach will be fixed. However I received a few back issues of Epitrochoid and by chance there was a discussion printed of the tachs used on air cooler rotaries. It appears to be saying the tach AN is selling would work as a replacement. https://andover-rotary.co.uk/rt/shop-d...

Thanks for the response, I have found someone in the states to repair it, as I believe I have isolated the problem to the tach itself, also the speedo trip odometer reset does not work. The person repairing the tach believes he has found a solution smiley , , I will let everyone know, the outcome

Re: Tach goes to 10000rpm when bike is switched on

one clue that will not go away is the tach malfunction, with the key on, I unplugged each connector in the wiring harness one by one. It did not change with all the connectors unplugged, so it has to be the tach or the binnacle wiring, visibly it seemed good.

The tach on my Classic goes to 10000rpm and stays there when the ignition is switched on (not started). Where should I start to look when trouble shooting?
