Re: Air cooled starter issues

Thanks for the tip Tony all makes sense.
As the starter is based on a T160 starter (I think) are there now any options as they do a high torque version for the tridents?
Just asking

Re: Air cooled starter issues

Right then gents, clutch removed as per Richards instructions and immediately felt that the sprag clutch was ok. Connected the battery pushed the starter, solenoid clicked but starter did not move. I had been able to start the bike by placing the bike in first, pressing the starter and flicking the ...

Re: Classic side stand and starting issues

Pretty much where I am with things James, it would be nice for everything to work as it should but sometimes it’s about consequences. Yes, it would be be great for it to kill the ignition (as it does on my replica) but if you have the warning light then that should be sufficient. if you then ride of...

Hi John, now the bike is running I am not overly fussed with the switch but curious as to the reasons why.
Always appreciate the feedback as their is always a wealth of knowledge and experience on the forum.

Re: Classic side stand and starting issues

Thanks for posting them James and confirming this socket is non standard. I guess whoever was doing the ‘surgery’ on the wiring loom has ‘codged’ up the crossing of the wires. Question still stands about the side stand switch as to if anyone has had the problem with the bike not being inhibited when...

Hi James, no the socket is under the left hand side panel. I have been trying to upload a photo but it repeatable says the file size is too large, am I missing something?

Classic side stand and starting issues

Where do we start? 1) bike (Classic) would only fire and run if the starter button was pressed. 2) Side stand switch has never worked even though wired into that bike. Side stand switch indicator light has always illuminated dimly when the bike was running with the side stand retracted. Note bike is...

Re: Apex seals for Interpol 2

Hi Lucas, I would be wary of using them as I suspect the Axiro engine uses a harder internal coating which will allow them to use ceramic seals (Brian Crighton is using DLC (diamond like coating) in his engines which allows him to use less oil improving emissions). Axiro are quoting 1% oil petrol mi...

W2000 oil injection

Does anyone know what was the reason for switching to oil injection on the w2000, was this an upgrade or just convenience at the pumps as not having to mix the fuel on fill up? Was there any issues with injection set up as it just seems to squirt oil into the inlet manifold? Just looking at starting...

Air cooled starter issues

Gents, sorry if I am going over old ground but I am having some issues with the starter on a classic replica. When you press the button the solenoid clicks and it is switching the current to the starter but the engine does not turn over. If you turn the engine over by rocking the bike backwards and ...

Anyway here it is in deepest Suffolk. Maybe up for sale soon as have to decide...

Re: IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi John, the sensor for for temperature gauge screws into a drilling above the left hand spark plug. I believe the Koso sensor is actually located under the spark plug, which I if I,m right raises the height of the plug and could effect sealing but maybe I’ve got the wrong end of the stick. All the ...

Re: IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply and the offer. I have contacted Andover Norton to no avail and they suggested a Koso product which is a digital gauge with it’s sensor sitting under the plug (not sure how that would effect the running or if you could connect to it ok), but obviously it would look prett...

IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi Gents, does anyone have a spare VDO 310876/1/1 temp gauge as the one on my Classic replica is playing up (sometimes reads 0 and then 100 degrees ish and then nothing for miles)? Re: Interpol 2 uneven running

Maybe John, I haven’t set the choke rod with too much thought only to ensure the rod fully returns as at one time the bike was hanging up, but maybe it requires a bit more attention. Just noticeable that the two bikes are quite different, was the classic set up to give a more civilised ride or is th...

Re: Interpol 2 uneven running

Gents, ‘piggy backing on Jorn’s post, my bike has always been very temperamental when cold, coming off idle up to about 2500rpm plus. The bike surges slightly until the bike gets thoroughly warm/hot but then settles down to an even tickover and pulls clean from junctions. Is this typical as I have a...

Gents, thanks very much for the response and it’s interesting to see how difficult the original finish is to remove.
