W2000 oil injection

Does anyone know what was the reason for switching to oil injection on the w2000, was this an upgrade or just convenience at the pumps as not having to mix the fuel on fill up? Was there any issues with injection set up as it just seems to squirt oil into the inlet manifold? Just looking at starting...

Are we talking big job/relatively simple job John? Anything to look out for when stripping the clutch (I guess you can access the sprag once the clutch is removed)?

Air cooled starter issues

Gents, sorry if I am going over old ground but I am having some issues with the starter on a classic replica. When you press the button the solenoid clicks and it is switching the current to the starter but the engine does not turn over. If you turn the engine over by rocking the bike backwards and ...

Re: Classic's and their owners

Evening all I have number 33 which is running and Mot’d. Has had an immobolizier fitted at some point in time which seems to fine at the moment but not sure longer term whether it would be best to try and ditch the thing. Anyway here it is in deepest Suffolk. Maybe up for sale soon as have to decide...

Re: IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi, many thanks for looking for the temp gauge and good news that you have managed to unearth not one but two of them. I have tried to send a personal message but it seems to be stuck in the outbox for some reason and won’t shift!! If you can advise what you would like for them then I will sort out ...

Re: IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi John, the sensor for for temperature gauge screws into a drilling above the left hand spark plug. I believe the Koso sensor is actually located under the spark plug, which I if I,m right raises the height of the plug and could effect sealing but maybe I’ve got the wrong end of the stick. All the ...

Re: IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply and the offer. I have contacted Andover Norton to no avail and they suggested a Koso product which is a digital gauge with it’s sensor sitting under the plug (not sure how that would effect the running or if you could connect to it ok), but obviously it would look prett...

Thanks for that John. Done a few hundred miles now so thought it would be showing signs of settling down but will keep an eye on it. IP2/Classic temperature gauge

Hi Gents, does anyone have a spare VDO 310876/1/1 temp gauge as the one on my Classic replica is playing up (sometimes reads 0 and then 100 degrees ish and then nothing for miles)? I have exchanged it for one from my Classic and it seems to give a steady reading albeit a bit high considering the eng...

Re: Interpol 2 uneven running

Maybe John, I haven’t set the choke rod with too much thought only to ensure the rod fully returns as at one time the bike was hanging up, but maybe it requires a bit more attention. Just noticeable that the two bikes are quite different, was the classic set up to give a more civilised ride or is th...

Re: Interpol 2 uneven running

Gents, ‘piggy backing on Jorn’s post, my bike has always been very temperamental when cold, coming off idle up to about 2500rpm plus. The bike surges slightly until the bike gets thoroughly warm/hot but then settles down to an even tickover and pulls clean from junctions. Is this typical as I have a...

Re: Classic/IP2 black exhaust finish

Hi Joe, interesting the different finishes on the exhausts and I guess the painted finishes were from the factory? My Classic replica has the black chrome, which sounds the same as yours, pretty decent at the rear of the exhaust but is a little rough closer to the manifold. The genuine Classic has p...

Re: Classic/IP2 black exhaust finish

Gents, thanks very much for the response and it’s interesting to see how difficult the original finish is to remove. Not seen a polished set of silencers on a Classic before but can see how they would look ok. Mick, I presume your silencers had to be prepped in some way for the ceramic coating, but ...

Dear all, can anyone recommend a suitable oil pipe which is suitably thin walled to be contoured to enable the side cover to be fitted but is heat resistant enough to connect to the inlet manifold on a W2000 with oil tank? I will try and add some pictures later. The existing pipe is a mishmash of ol...

It’s an injector model and had a lot of oil across the top of the engine and down the near side casing. The source ...
