Re: Interpol 2 uneven running

Jorn, Your comments, below seem to contradict each other: When picking up speed from slowing down for a turn or for a crossroad, it runs very uneven - I have to turn the throttle, increase rpm and slip the clutch in order to get it going. I would have said that this was a fuelling issue, turning the...

Re: Commander fuel tank filler cap

All,

Its a Yamaha item, my key says Yamaha anyway, have a look at Yambits as most things on a Commander are XJ900F the cap might just be the same.

I managed to overhaul my cap, its possible to take it to pieces and make a new seal, have a look I do not think its difficult

Re: What make are commander front forks

When I need spares for the Yamaha bits on my Commander I go to Yambits and order for a XJ900F 1985 to 1992. Like Tim my back wheel is off the ground when the bike is on the centre stand. If both your wheels are on the ground you either have an issue with the centre stand, very unlikely on a Commande...

Trev,

You will not be sorry when you get your bike on the road, once having ridden a Norton Rotary Commander you will be spoilt for anything else. I ride boxer BM's for a blood bike group, I just do not see what people like about those bikes.

All,

I changed my chain this winter, my Commander has done 80k miles, the old one had stretched, I went to the chain man excellent service and quality, ordered in accordance with the information in the Commander book.

Tim, Nice one. I have a hydraulic lift with wooden top and in way of where the centre stand contacts the lift I screwed in place a square of plywood about 1 to 1.5 cm thick, once the bike is on the centre stand I use a heavy duty webbing strap to pull down the rear of the bike lifting the front whee...

If you are not successful with oil from the contact in North Yorkshire and by the East of the Country you mean Norfolk there are two companies in GT Yarmouth who will have the oil you need for your Commander.

Re: Classic starter problem

David, My Commander starter motor just ran without turning the engine, I found putting it in gear and rocking back and forth got the sprag working again for a while, when I eventually got the sprag out (page 10 of the Commander parts book) I found the sprag to just be dirty, all it needed was a good...

Phillip,

My Commander occasionally does the same I put it down to not fully engaging first gear. If it becomes an issue I will have a look at the condition of items 14, 15, 16, 17 and 20 page 22 of the parts book with the exception of item 17 all parts are available from ANL.

Had I not already booked to go to the TT and it is going to be John McGuinness 100 start I would be at the Czech rally.

I hope you get to go and have a good time, its not an issue being on a Honda, one of these days you and I are going to meet at a rally.

Venhill made a full set of throttle and choke cables for my Commander, I'm sure they would be able to make you a clutch cable for your classic, as previously advised they will want your old cable, this is the e-mail address I used; sales@venhill.co.uk.

Last Ride for 2021

I was hoping for another outing before laying the Commander up for the winter but with the wintery conditions and the salting of the roads here in the North East of Scotland I have decided that my last ride in late November was my last for 2021, this year I just missed my target of riding 5k miles a...

If standard the original size seal is still available let me know and I will send you the part number, if modified I'm sure Graham at Startright will have a seal that fits.

There is a drain plug under the gearbox, remove the round cover to reveal the oil pump simply pour oil into the space below, the manual advises to fill until the level is approx. 1.0mm below the lip. Take your time the oil will be thick and will take time to find its level.

Morning John I hope you are keeping well.

Looking at the pump there is a small O Ring at position approx. 11 o'clock and a larger O Ring at approx. 5 O'clock that's it no other joints or O Rings I have never found it necessary to use any silicon or anything like.

Has the clutch ever been free? Jerome, https://minimagneto.co.uk/Norton-Rotary.php The Minimag ignition unit replaces wire for wire the original Boyer ignition unit as fitted to the Commanders. I have no experience of the Classic or Interpol II bikes but there are many others on the forum who will be able to assist. Good luck Tony
