Definitely worth a visit if any members are on the island this year. The museum will be displaying the bike as a special and then over nex...

Re: Commander breakdown.

Hi Tony Thanks for the prompt reply. Have had the Commander a few years now and never had a moment of trouble since the engine re-build which included a 5000 mile trip around Europe. It has the Norton digital system ignition with a 'half effect trigger' (whatever that it) fitted. My bike is a naked ...

Stop on the hard shoulder and have ignition, fuel and the temperature is good. Try a re-start and nothing. After three or four minutes try again an...

Hi John. We are going straight through France with a overnight stay in Nantua. From Dover Rimini is 952 miles and stopping at Nantua breaks this into two stints of 521 and 435 miles. Just bought a 'airhawk' seat pad, think I will need it!Mark.

Re: New Member

Hello and welcome. Rotary machines come up from time to time on ebay and the small adds in various publications. Was £12500 a typo? If not that seems very expensive for a Commander. Good luck with your quest!Mark.

Just done 155 miles at varied speeds including a thrash down the motorway for 30 miles on a Commander and burnt 17 Ltrs of fuel which equates to 42 mpg. Previous to this I did 108 miles using 13 Ltrs of fuel and at no time exceeded 4000 revs which equates to 37.77 mpg. The last stint was done using ...

Hello from a new member,

Hello all. Iv'e always been a Norton fan and now have just taken the plunge and bought a ex-RAC Commander. It was last on the road in 1997 and has an electrical problem and I know next to nothing about rotors. Steep learning curve ahead! The frame is 4002 and it was first registered in 1988.Cheers, ...
