Re: Classic No11 on ebay

Sorry graham you are wrong on this. Air cooled and water cooled end plates are cast using the same material.

Re: Rotary Nortons at the T.T.

I see that Norton Racing have a competion on their website for the best photo of Robert Dunlop on the racer at the TT. Not many people with photo's I think. The first prize is a (Non) Race Team jacket.I hear that second prize is 2 jackets and third prize is the an NRV588.

Re: Rotary Nortons at the T.T.

Certainly a very poor effort from the new owners of the trademark. If it was a "rotor bearing failure" in the practice on Monday then why not take the second bike out on Tuesday and Wednesday. "Cap came off the Front brake master cylinder" or was it "Electrical problems"...

Re: Front forks IP2

Hello Interpol 2471.I get the impression that I might have upset you with my last post. Not my intention I assure you and if that is the case then please accept my apologies. Being a bit of an old Codger I dont understand these Smilies faces - does the glowing red face mean you're angry or embarrass...

Re: Front forks IP2

Front forks hard, soft, underdamped, overdamped.........It all depends on what you think is good, normal, ordinary........I've ridden numerous IP2's with fairing and without fairing and have never found the forks too hard or stiff at whatever speed up to what, at my age now, I would call ridiculousl...

Re: 'Official' Norton video on youtube

I've never looked at youtube. Is this an official "Norton" promotion or is it some amatuer thing and is it for the rotary race bike, road bike or the 4 stroke, reciprocating twin.If it is official then it seems to me that its a strange place to be promoting a new bike. Then again its better...

Re: Drax Diaries

If the prop stand gets in the way then why not take it off for track days ?75 BHP not enough ??? Not that long ago that would have been enough to win the Production TT. Certainly some more ground clearance would be neccessary for reasonable lean angles at track days. An ejector would give more clear...

Re: Drax Diaries

[quoteNot wanting to risk damaging my engine I thought I`d better follow this advice, most enjoyable ride home from work,][/quote]Glad you enjoyed the ride Steve. Not much traffic on the road at 2.00am I bet. Don't overdo it though. Let it rev through the gears but don't thrash it to death.

Re: Drax Diaries

Dear me Dave. Rightly admonished by Richard for quoting the manufacturing limits of the seals and not the wear limits. Typical bloke I suppose - no need to read the manual properly - just read the technical specs in the front and not bother with bit in the middle about inspecting the engine internal...

Re: Drax Diaries

Hello Dave,With regard to the obvious high amount of carbon in the engine I would suspect two things. The first is the oil pump cable sticking due to corrosion and not letting the operating arm return fully as suggested by Richard. The second is that you are doing too much top gear work and not lett...

Re: New F1 owner from Czech Republic

I called in at Norton Motors the day after this bike was collected and Richard and Pete were very upset to say the least. The bike was paid for in cash and they had been robbed on the very same day and lost all the cash paid for it and some more. To make matters worse they were not insured for theft...

Sounds

"No piston engine will ever sound as good as an unsilenced rotary".\rIn my opinion the rotary does not even come close to the Honda 250 and 297 sixes.\rThe Hondas sound refined - the rotary sounds uncouth by comparison.\rAnd then of course there is the Rolls Royce Merlin. I was priveliged ...

More new Nortons

I think the lack of comment reflects the low number of people who use the website. Of those who do then I think a fair number belong to the older generation who have read it all before are are waiting for it to actually happen.\rI am wondering what will be announced next.\rFirst it was new Rotaries ...

More new Nortons

Good spot there Peterpinkbike.\rI reckon one company will build rotaries and the other will build piston engined bikes. \rIf they ever actually do get the piston engined bike into production then what will they call it. Surely not "Commando".

new rotary

My first post on this subject was intended to raise some comment on this venture but has raised very little.\rI must now admit that I agree with all of W588's comments.\rRoadbikes ready for sale next spring / summer and 200 to be made and all according to the website at a new factory that is not yet...

New Rotary

Not much real comment on the new bikes from Norton Racing. I would have thought this forum would be awash with enthusiastic comment by now. The only real comment is from W588 who is less than enthusiastic to say the least.\rDoes anyone :-\rWant one ?\rThink it will never happen ?\rThink they will co...
