Re: carb choices
Well they are more like those ones Richard but not exactly. They are still in storage at the moment but as soon as I dig them out I will take a photo.

Re: carb choices
Thanks again Richard, what would we do without you on here ? I am looking at using a pair of twin plug housings, not sure if that makes any difference ? I love the idea of fuel injection but just think it would be too hard to set up. I havent seen my twin plug housings for ages, do they even have bu...

carb choices
My rotary enthusiasm has recently been reignited and because of this I will be picking brains of the rotary collective on here as info is pretty hard to come by, especially good info cool Thanks to Richard I have sorted the water pump question now it is carbs. For ease I was thinking about using SU'...

Re: Water pump alternatives
Yes the standard Commander water pump is definitely a weakness. The F1 pump seems to be a big improvement.

Re: Water pump alternatives
Thanks Richard, I was going to say it looked like a Davies Craig pump, one of the few things we still make in Australia That makes it very easy with the model number.I also like the idea of the remore generator as it means less sticking out the side of the bike. Thanks again Richard

Water pump alternatives
I am (as always) planning my next project, it involves a Commander based engine but I dont want to use the big bulky water pump. What would be a practical, reliable alternative ? I was thinking perhaps an electric pump rather than a mechanical type. I know some modern cars use electric pumps so I wo...

Re: Unusual F1 gearbox
If you look closely at the bottom photo just to the right of the mount you will notice one of the threaded holes has been plugged by a Mud Wasp when it was on a shelf in Australia It is perfectly fine and washes out but it was a constant battle to stop them plugging every hole.

Re: Unusual F1 gearbox
Wayne, here are a couple of photos for you. The top mount has been crudely chamfered as can be seen to persuade it into the frame I assume. The swingarm mount seems to be standard but I dont have my other gearbox handy to compare it to.

Re: Unusual F1 gearbox
Hi Richard, thanks for that. There certainly doesnt look to be anything untoward that would affect it being used in an F1 as you say. Yes it does have 3 tapped holes on the bottom. Thanks again, hows things with you Richard ?

Unusual F1 gearbox
I bought this F1 gearbox case many years ago without knowing anything about it. I dug it out from a pile of stuff this morning and decided it would be a good time to pick the brains of some of you guys. The difference is clear to anyone who is familiar with F1 gearboxes, the metal around the main be...

Re: How well are Nortons doing
I'm not sure what any of the figures show to be honest, Triumph made a loss for many years, at least on paper. I applaud Stuart Garner for what he has done, I interviewed him for a story a few years ago and was very impressed by his enthusiasm and desire to succeed. The problem is that here in the U...

Norton Aurora petrol tank ?
Hi guys, I havent been on here for awhile, time just seems to disappear. I am currently having a bit of a clear out and came across what I think is an Aurora tank, the prototype of the Classic. I have no idea what it is worth, as I have been out of the loop for sometime and because of its rarity.Wha...

Please give Ron our best when you next see him, we met him quite a few times when we lived in the UK and my wife, Tracy (an ex F1 owner), absolutely loved him and still mentions him now.

Re: whats the latest on the new Rotary F1??
I'm not sure if there is going to be a new rotary road bike, I would like to think there will be. I saw the new engine when I was at the factory back in October and it was certainly impressive and Staurt Garner was very enthusiastic about it but he made it clear that if it wasn't up to the performan...

Re: Norton Motorcycle article
As I said in an earlier post when I visited the Norton factory and spoke to Staurt at length about the rotary he showed gebuine enthusiasm for the enigne and it's many possible uses. The all new rotary engine they have developed is very impressive. It is entirely CNC machined from billet alloy and l...
