Re: Frame restoration.

Been thinking- surely I can just seal the holes in the oil tank. It's not going to be rusty in there.

Re: Frame restoration.

Many thanks Joe, I'd never heard of soda blasting, I'll look into that one.I'll try to remember to take photos as I go so I can show how it progresses. It'll be a long job as I don't have a lot of spare time (or money!)James.

Frame restoration.

The IP2 is completely stripped now and I'm looking at the frame.Generally the condition isn't too bad but the bit that goes over the back wheel and the underside of the oil tank is rusty. I've stripped the rusty sections back to bare metal and temporarily put red oxide on to stop it rusting again bu...

Re: MK3 Commando rear wheel issues

It's a long time ago (35 years) since I had my commando but I remember there was a spacer, about 3/4 inch, which went in on the RH side. I seem to remember it allowed the wheel to be pushed onto the part driven by the chain sprocket and then it slides in to hold it there.Sorry that all sounds a bit ...

Thanks for that, I'll be making a list of what's needed over the next few weeks.I can't remember if both silencers are the same? I'm pretty certain it's the left one I need.James

Finally got round to it.

I took my IP2 off the road in March 2001 (at least that's the last tax disc). I've now got around to stripping it with the intention of restoring it to original MOD PLOD spec.Is anyone still doing the moly coating? Are seals etc. still availlable? One silencer is certainly shot- probably need to rep...

Re: Wanted norton rotary

I managed to get the Interpol from the back of the garage yesterday after about 6 hours of moving things (its a big garage). It was getting dark when I finished so the pictures I've posted on the gallery are not good, I'll try to get some more after work today. The strange dash is my own creation, I...

Re: Wanted norton rotary

I have an Interpol II I'm thinking of selling. It's been laid up for about 5 years. I was hoping to get it out of the garage this weekend and check it over.I used it daily for work (66 miles a day) until changing jobs and getting a BMW.
