Re: Does the Classic share its dash with any other rotaries?
I took the dash apart on my IP2 to try and address this exact issue. I found that the lenses were actually painted underneath to give the different colours! Article in the last issue of Epitrochoid explained it, but if you missed it, I basically scraped the paint off then cut up small pieces of colo...

Re: Non-starting Classic
On my IP2, and I would therefore think it's the same with the Classic, the side stand warning light is simply to tell you the side stand is down. I'm pretty sure there is no interlock involved which cuts out the ignition - happy to be corrected if that's not the case?

Forgot to say, the luggage is of course fully removable - the panniers being the easiest to take off on any bike I've had.

Re: Rotary stablemate - Guzzi?
It's actually lighter than a Commander, though I am always a bit suspicious of quoted weights. But it is a big bike. However, it benefits from a low seat which makes all the difference. I am quite short but can get both feel comfortably on the ground on the Guzzi. When I tried a Commander I was tip-...

Near Warwick. Please PM me for further details and photos if you are interested. if it's inappropriate I will h...

Re: Classic/IP2 black exhaust finish
After riding with a Classic that had polished silencers on a VMCC run back in the summer, I was very impressed with the finish and I want the polished look on my IP2 silencers. However, on trying to clean mine up over the winter it's nigh on impossible to get the original coating off, whatever it is...

Re: IP2 or Classic clutch cable wanted
Forgot to say that I don't expect there are any new cables around so it's a used clutch cable I am after - unless there is a new one you have spare.
Please PM me if you have one that you don't need.

IP2 or Classic clutch cable wanted
Anyone got a clutch cable for either the Norton IP2 or Classic that is surplus to requirements? Just servicing my IP2 and found the cable nipple dug so tightly into the release arm in the primary drive cover that I had to chisel it out. Probably not been apart for goodness knows how long so perhaps ...

Re: IP2/Classic clutch cable
Thanks for that, but what I am after is a second cable to have as a spare and I can, if needs must, get one made locally by a guy who does all the Velocette OC cables.
I was just trying to see if there were any new ones left anywhere but it looks like there aren't.

IP2/Classic clutch cable
Anyone know if there are any clutch cables about for the IP2 or Classic? Both Startrights and Andover list them as out of stock. Mine hasn't gone yet, but having been on a VMCC run last week where two bikes had their clutch cables snap reminded me that I ought to carry a spare. Otherwise I suppose t...

It was just under £15k when it first went up! Obviously someone had second thoughts but even at 'only' £12k it's still far too high. Be interesting to see how long it stays on there.

Re: Interesting Interpol on Ebay
I was just about to post it up too but you beat me to it. Pretty hefty price tag is an understatement, and I'm pretty sure this one has been up before with its TRRL trimmings. I seem to recall from previous comments that there is no way it can be ridden on the road (because of all the TRRL stuff on ...

Re: Alternative Silencers
Here is my IP2 when I bought it, with a 2 into 1 system on it that hardly weighed anything. However, it was very, very loud and even after I bought a baffle for it, it made no difference! rear.jpg It had Geoff Madden's name engraved on it, so I assume it was one of his specials which I think he buil...

Improving IP2 front forks
Has anyone got experience of improving the ride quality on the IP2/Classic? The rear end on my IP2 is much better after a new set of NJB gas shocks, but the front end is very stiff and seems unable to damp out even small bumps. As mine no longer carries the huge police fairing, I removed the spacers...

Re: Bikinis
No it didn't. The original fairing and fittings had already been removed from my IP2 by the time I bought it, so I don't even know what that outrigger sub-frame looks like. When working out how to fit my Yamaha fairing I wanted to use the original mounts wherever possible, so I modified the bolt-on ...

Re: Where things live
It really depends what the red wire is supposed to be supplying and where it comes from, so impossible to say what it is. When I stripped out my wiring harness, I followed the wiring diagram in the IP2 workshop manual as closely as I could as most of the components were still IP2, but in the end I f...

Re: Where things live
Hi Roger Glad you got your forum admission sorted. The coils fit in the moulded recess in the plastic air filter box cover that goes at the top front of the engine. Coils go in here.jpg The starter solenoid is a bit more tricky, as you have to remove the right hand footrest assembly and brake pedal....

IP2 and Classic tyre sizes
New tyres are needed for my IP2 but I am confused over sizes, as there seem to be quite a few different combinations posted in various road tests, the workshop manual, etc. They are all V18: 100/80; 100/90; and 110/80 for the front tyre. And for the rear: 110/90; 120/80; and 120/90. I have seen all ...

Bogus postings or scamming?
We seem to be being targeted by some bizarre postings in the last few days. Are these mistakes, pranks or something more sinister?
I am not going to open any of them in case they contain a virus. The Guzzi owners club was the target of the latter earlier this year.
