Stuff on E Bay - early feb 2010 - WARNING not COMMANDER

Post by BANJOMAN »

Have had a look at a number of items on E Bay advertised for Commander. They are not all for Commanders if any. They must be for air cooled or classic or something like that. Luckily I checked my parts book!!

You are quite right all of the parts listed are for ex MOD Interpol 2's as the items have come from MOD clearance. None of the parts are suitable for Commanders.

Agreed ; note that descriptions of the IP2 handlebar switches should be opposite 'hands' - the R/H switch is actually a L/H and vice versa; also the DIP/MAIN button is missing/broken.With extended wires, the ignition trigger will also suit Commander and F1 / F1 SportR

Fraid not Richard and I really needed a couple of those parts to keep the old girl turning, I was gutted I did not win the Ignition box and the handlebar controls. I just hope these parts did not go into someones 'well I may need them one day' stock when I needed them to keep my bike on the road Sulk Sulk cry Best get my begging tin out now lol especially after the company I work for had a shut down week in the new year to try and save money and now we are told no pay rises this year too probably So maybe Richard you will be right soon as I flood the market with cheap IP2 spares lol

Even at £51, the ignition unit was a bargain, if it works, and the r/h switch (with rotary kill switch) is unavailable now from Yamaha - which creates a problem for the rebuilders of old 'classic' Yamahas. The ANIL stock of these (both l/h and r/h) will in Hungerford very soon.R.ps it wasn't me - honest cool

If the pads are old / original, check that corrosion isn't causing the friction material to delaminate from the backing plates.Could be a nasty surprise one day.R.

I can remember 30 years ago, and yesterday, but two years ago ?? Not a chance! On a more serious note, I have seen more than one IP2 at Rugeley for a 'restoration' where the original Brembo brake pad material (with a high metallic content) has corroded so badly that it is no longer attached to the backplate. Presumably something to do with road salt ?R.
