Steering Lock

Post by mickm »

II brought a new steering lock for my bike, but can someone tell me how it works? Getting the old one out is simple but replacing it results in just filling the hole !! Mick. A puzzled Classic Owner

Mick,
Turn the key, clockwise I think, and push it in whilst wiggling the bars on full left lock.
After the lock has engaged with a slot in the steering stem, remove the key.

To unlock, insert the key and turn anti-clockwise, allowing the spring to push the lock body out again.

Just a bike-less old fogey now. Boo-hoo!

Hi Mick,in the thirty years of the ownership of my Classic I only ever used the steering lock once,(a fiddly job evil)so figuring that if some lowlife wanted to nick it, the flimsy steering lock would do little to deter them,so I use a big old plastic coated cable lock instead cool,(I also used a Brake Disc Lock for a while,THAT did not end well evil) J.B.
