Wanted: Commander RH fairing panel

Post by Ian »

Hello all. Due to SWMBO being entirely blind, I need a RH fairings panel for my Commander. Despite it being big and red, she managed to drive her car over it and it is now in three pieces. How big it had to be for her to see it is undefined. So, anybody out there have a useable RH fairing panel? I can do repairs and paint so it only has to fit! Obviously I'm happy to pay for it. Or rather, SWMBO will, now she's been retrained. Thanks in advance. Ian.

Many, many thanks. You may just have saved a marriage. You just don't damage a man's motorcycle. I need a RH panel, ideally just needing paint but I can handle some repairs. Could you let me know how much you'd want for one? PM me if appropriate. Thanks again,Ian.

Hello again. I don't want to seen pushy or impatient and I know we all have other things to do these days but I wondered if you'd had a chance to investigate a RH fairing panel yet?I think you live in Rainham; I live in Rayleigh so collection would be very easy. (if fact I lived in Rainham for 20 years until 1984). Many thanks in advance, ian.

Hello Ian, I p.m.`d you on Monday but it must have have gone astray. The 3rd side panel is another left hand one. I sold a pair to a friend about 3 weeks ago after keeping them for about 18 years!!The one I have left is in almost as new condition with just minor scratches mostly from storage. There are no cracks in the gel coat or anywhere else. I was keeping it as a spare & my preference is still to do that. P.M. me or phone me tomorrow on 0787 961 5056 to discuss. Cheers, Derek.

Hello Derek. I've had no luck getting a replacement RH fairing panel. Graham is having a batch of six made but it will take six weeks. It is rather difficult to ride without the panel, but not impossible. Can I persuade you to sell me yours? What will it take? We mentioned £100 last week, would that be OK?Maybe you could let me know? Many thanks,Ian.

Ian is your panel repairable as I have a good fibreglass man near to me and he could repair and paint it for cheaper?

Well, I am no expert but it is in three pieces. I showed a man who used to repair Reliants and he shook his head. He though the repair would always show...I'll try another repair shop near me that specialise in motorcycle bodywork.

If you find dead ends please give me a shout as I may well be able to help if you are unable to get the new panel or your panel repaired near to you. Check out my pictures in the gallery as I have my fairing shown and that was almost scrap when I got it. Paul

Hello Ian, As new ones are going to be available I will hang on to my spare but your welcome to borrow one of me until they are available. I`m not using my red bike so you could have the one of that to match yours.Cheers, Derek.

Hi all. Many thanks to those who have offered help. Andover Norton came to the rescue with a white one lying in Rugeley with the erstwhile Norton Motors.I have had some offers of a loan panel and I'm very grateful to you all (you know who you are, what a community this is.) but I'll get the AN one sprayed. This probably won't happen again; Graham is having a mould made from his own bike's panels and a small batch laid up so in a few weeks or so they will be back in stock, new! Thanks GrahamSo thanks for your help and you know where to go when your wife can't see a big, red piece of fairing...Ian
