MK3 Commando rear wheel issues

Post by rjg30091982 »

Hi all,Does any one have a mk3 commando? I have one I'm rebuilding and I'm putting the rear wheel back on and with the manual in exploded view I have everything yet the wheel moves 1/2 an inch each way!Looks like I'm missing a spacer but the spacer is in and I still have a gap?I can't check my MK2a as it's a drum brake!Does anyone have a mk3 that could send me a photo of the rear wheel shaft and spacers!ThanksRuss

It's a long time ago (35 years) since I had my commando but I remember there was a spacer, about 3/4 inch, which went in on the RH side. I seem to remember it allowed the wheel to be pushed onto the part driven by the chain sprocket and then it slides in to hold it there.Sorry that all sounds a bit waffly red face
