Single battery on Commander ?

Post by Dave »

Is it ok to put just one battery on a Commander and then just tape up or remove the battery wires for the 2nd one ?, would this affect the regulater in any way?, just thinking i may buy one modern gel type, as a replacement for the two lead acid ones, thanks dave

I know someone who has done this, with no obvious problems.Seems no reason why it shouldn't be fine provided overall capacity is at least as good as the original one. I believe IP2s weren't over-capacitied with battery power, having only one but a modern gel battery should be fine.

DaveI fitted a high powered dry type battery last year, works exactly the same as two. I made a steel tank exact same size as vacated left battery to carry spare oil because of the long distances over here in Pacxific NW. Best to remove the red pos joining cable.Roger
