W2000 Dragging Clutch

Post by Mick Taylor »

My W2000 stood for 30 years, it has just 5,400m recorded. The clutch drags slightly which makes finding neutral at a standstill a bit of a pain.I intend to take the clutch out, un gum and clean the plates and then replace with 10/W40 motorcycle gearbox oil. I always approach the DKW with trepidation as I am institutionalised to Japanese bikes. (RE5? easy!)Has anyone done this job? I think I can get away with a single gasket for the clutch cover and a new cable, both to be supplied by the ever patient and helpful Dave Cameron....but if I'm missing something, someone please tell me before it all goes horribly wrong. Here's another DKW snapMick..............kettle738
