Jump off Beachy Head, anyone ?

Post by Richard Negus »

After setting up UAV Engines in 1991, Managing Director David Garside was approached by an individual who wanted to buy a 38bhp single rotor engine for a paramotor application. Paramotors, for those unfamiliar, are basically paragliders with an engine/propellor strapped on your back. Never one to mince words, Garside was very dismissive and suggested to the enquirer that jumping off Beachy Head would be a more effective way of killing himself.Well, have a look at http://www.parajet.com ; a UK-based paraglider/paramotor company in business for quite some time that now includes two rotary engines in its range. The smaller is 160cc and the larger 294cc and, from the photos, both appear to be based around the Aixro/Italsistem kart engines. The company is also responsible for the 'Flying Car' that featured on tv recently that has actually travelled considerable distances, in direct contrast to the the Moller Skycar which, I believe, hasn't actually flown anywhere.
Just a bike-less old fogey now. Boo-hoo!
