glow plugs

Post by johnbirchjar »

Hi guys,A none rotory question wink,I think one(or two)of the glow plugs on my Bora are not working.
The W/S Manual advises NOT to take them out to do a sight test,(Just turn on the ignition and see if they light up cool.one at a time of course)any idea why VW advise against this? J.B.

As a guess, a safety precaution. I believe glow plugs use around 2 or 300 amps, outside the engine that could easily create a spark igniting fuel (if there was a leak ) or finger burns.
