Starter motor

Hi Guys,The starter motor on the Classic sounds like it is "slipping" and a bit "graunchy" ,any ideas?(not the battery,It's fully charged)J.B.

Hello John, Sounds like the starter sprag clutch is failing. Does it just spin without engaging the engine?Derek.

Hi Dell,No,The problem only occurs when the engine is realy cold,like when it's been stood for a couple of weeks,it sounds ok when the engine is warm, J.B.

Hello John,I still think it is the sprag clutch. In my experience it is always worst when really cold.Derek.

I bowe to your superier knowledge,and if this is the case,is it noticable when the engine striped down for repairs?J.B.
