Re: Injector Oil for W2000

No Roy, don’t fill the tank with 20/50 - you are right to be doubtful.

I am sure the Comp-2 you mention will be fine.

Re: gearbox oil

This, from Tony Page …… I can access the forum but can't post a reply. I've done 490,000 miles now on my IP2 with the same gear box. So, despite what has been written on this thread, they are not 'crap'. I have always used the specified 140 grade oil and changed it every 5000.miles which equated to ...

PM me the details, Paul - thank you.

So sorry to read that the vendor of your Classic suddenly ‘found’ the toolkit that should have gone with the bike.

Good luck!

Re: Classic's and their owners

I have finished writing the piece about what Classics are where, as known to the club. We can account for 50 .... which is 50%!!!

Which means there's another 50 out there somewhere!

It'll be in the next (but one) magazine.

And if so, could it be copied here?

It seems to have had a Mazda rotary replacement.

Reading Richard’s post, I think it was the MZ1000 motorcycle that was a (commercial) failure .... not it’s component parts ... which were actually rather good.

Having MZ upside-down forks is the most obvious modification.

They were conversions from standard Commanders done while Norton was based at Rugeley.

In my own case (in a F1). I just ran the tank down as low as dared, and then switched. I had no problem.

Re: Lovely Commander for sale

Yep, the gearbox / shaft-drive of the R27 looks just like that of the prototype W2000. My information is that Hercules originally wanted to have all W2000s with shaft-drive using a similar arrangement, but problems occurred with agreeing a deal with BMW. Hercules had wanted to produce one of their o...

IP2 / Classic bearings 55-0122

2 x NOS bearings, still inn their sealed Norton Motors Ltd bag.

Andover Norton lists them for £5.89 - inc VAT each.

Would £7.50 for the pair sound fair?

Silkolene oil delivery (possibly)

Having just masterminded a delivery of Silkolene 2T to Newcastle via an ex-colleague whose daughter lives there, I wonder if there is any demand for the same in other parts of the UK? Given the vendor says it's ex-Met, I guess it's either B77, B78 or B79 VYT?

The last time I saw B77, it had been sprayed green (didn't you, Mr Mason?).
