Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

Job done, it was the clutch cush rubbers after all !. I had bought them 11 years ago and assumed I had fitted them. I had'nt. Mot'd and taxed yesterday, then an afternoon blast up the B1247. Fantastic fun. I was 57 when I took her off the road, 11 years later the riding position now feels decidedly ...

Fuel pipe

Whilst checking out the wiring connectors, I noticed the fuel hose felt very hard. Tried it to see how bendy it was and it cracked !. These are the 2 long lengths to the tank from the pump. (F1 Sport). The supplier I used looked up the spec for petrol/ethanol and says the spec code should end in R9....

Re: F1 Sport wiring diagram ?

Thanks Wayne, cleaning a few more connector blocks has got most things operating again. The 3 yellows in a block next to the rear seat bracket were in a right state. Rusted up and signs of overheating. Lucky to sort that before she's running again. Getting close, need to replace the fuel hoses, they...

F1 Sport wiring diagram ?

My bike has objected to being off the road 10 years and has some electrical issues. I could do with a diagram to check what wires do what. Most problems were connector blocks crudded up, but the oil reservoir warning light does'nt seem to be alive nor does the neutral light. Is there such a thing as...

Oil pump setting

Slowly getting the F1 Sport back together, can't find much info about the oil pump setting. At the moment it is 2mm back from the pump index line when throttle off. One internet site says make the lines coincide at 1000 revs. Anyone know what the correct way is please? Thanks, Terry.

Re: F1 Sport cush drive

Well, the juddering was the cush rubbers after all. Why I thought I had changed them already I don't know.(OK, old age ), Just waiting for a new sprag, Richard declared it past it's best, then put her back together and back on the road in a few weeks !.Can't wait and crossed fingers nothing's gone t...

Re: F1 Sport cush drive

Thanks Wayne, things are looking better now. All the parts have cleaned up and look in good order but I will take up Richard's offer to inspect the bits, just to be certain. I assume one rubber is for the over-run side (into the angled gap) then 2 rubbers in the more rectangular gap for the drive ta...

Re: F1 Sport cush drive

Well, as I wrote " 2, 8mm tapped holes" I said to myself "yooo stooopid boy ! ", they are obviously for a puller ! So, it's now in bits, the 5 hole closing plate was at the back, inside the cush assembly. It was seized solid inside and took some separating. The rubbers are as har...

Re: F1 Sport cush drive

Thanks Wayne, the outer drum with inner drum are still together. It seems to get inside the centre drum it needs separating from the outer. That's the problem, it will not push through by hand and, there's the sprag and needle roller I don't want to damage. It appears to need some force, somewhere, ...

F1 Sport cush drive

I've finally got round to stripping the clutch out to resolve the judder issue. I thought I had replaced the cush rubbers 10 years ago but now find they are still new in their bag ! . I want to inspect the cush drive rubbers but , so far, I can't figure how to get inside it. I have a Commander clutc...

Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

Many thanks for all the interest and advice, I will be having a fresh look in late spring ( bogged down with a classic bike re-build and classic car jobs for now).Cheers, Terry.

Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

The judder occurs both hot and cold , when I get round to stripping it all out again, I will make a better assessment of the diaphragm, the circlip and that back bearing. I,m thinking of making up a carrier so I can mount the assembled clutch in the lathe, maybe borrow a clutch shaft, might show some...

Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

Hi, its' always judder'd, right from collecting it from Leeds. Its' only as the clutch lever is fed out to take up drive. There is no transmission snatch and drives OK at low speeds/high speeds. Clutch plate(s) seemed the obvious problem, but no difference when I tried the other plates. Checking the...

Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

Yes, I renewed the cush rubbers and, out of the big pile of plates Graham lent me, I selected ones that were true on a surface plate. Checking the diaphragm spring for run out I did'nt do, will try that in the new year when I have it to bits again. It is a fairly low mileage bike , owned from new by...

Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

Shenstone?, I meant Andover, too far though. I've been told in the past that the clutch is the same diaphragm as a Commando, don't know if that's true. Anyone?

Re: F1 Sport clutch judder

Thanks JB, I bought the bike off Graham, it was he who lent me the clutch plates to see if that was the problem. I took them back and said there was no change, he could'nt offer any other advice. I might take it all to bits again and have a really thorough check of all the parts. It might be worth a...

F1 Sport clutch judder

Hello all, I'm hoping to put the Sport back on the road for 2015. I've never been able to cure it's bad clutch judder, hence off the road. It's a diaphragm spring which looks OK, I have swapped the plates, no difference. Can anyone offer any thing I could check ?, or, who would be the best to take i...
