Philip,
My gauge is also not accurate, I suspect that you might have to bend the float arm as I believe the gauge itself is not adjustable

Re: Commander water pump seal wanted
Dean,
Is your pump standard or modified,
If standard the original size seal is still available let me know and I will send you the part number, if modified I'm sure Graham at Startright will have a seal that fits.

Re: gearbox oil
There is a drain plug under the gearbox, remove the round cover to reveal the oil pump simply pour oil into the space below, the manual advises to fill until the level is approx. 1.0mm below the lip. Take your time the oil will be thick and will take time to find its level.

Morning John I hope you are keeping well.
Looking at the pump there is a small O Ring at position approx. 11 o'clock and a larger O Ring at approx. 5 O'clock that's it no other joints or O Rings I have never found it necessary to use any silicon or anything like.

Trev, Like all things molly coating does not last forever, that said my Commander engine was remollied in 2016 and since then I have completed 25k miles so far so good. If your engine is running OK it will idle and restart when hot, will accelerate strongly then I would leave it alone and just keep ...

Re: Engine stand commander
Trev, I have a video of a mechanic at the Norton factory overhauling a water cooled engine, from what I have seen the engine cannot be overhauled when it is still in the frame. With the engine on the bench the mechanic used an old primary chain case cut so that the engine was turned on its ends and ...

Has the clutch ever been free? If No strip it If Yes, first check that the clutch actuating mechanism is correctly set, you might just be able to free it up by bump starting the bike pull in the clutch and use both brakes to try to stop the bike thus freeing the clutch Either way its not a big job w...

I agree with Clive, one each hole in my clutch cover, gearbox cover and water pump cover are all tapped M8.
On an old and used rotary there is a good chance your cover(s) are already tapped

Re: advice 0n tt1 not wiring
Trev, My bike had a Boyer for possibly 50,000 miles, however as I do a lot of long distance rides and did not want to get caught out with a failed ignition box far from home, I purchased a Minimag, made all the connections and ran the bike with the new ignition box for a while to make sure all was g...

Re: Classic wiring/Minimag
Jerome, https://minimagneto.co.uk/Norton-Rotary.php The Minimag ignition unit replaces wire for wire the original Boyer ignition unit as fitted to the Commanders. I have no experience of the Classic or Interpol II bikes but there are many others on the forum who will be able to assist. Good luck Tony

Trev,
I see what you mean, as a rule of thumb washers always go under a nut.
The purpose of the washer is to avoid the nut binding on the fork leg
