Re: BSA thoughts?
My mate bought a pre O.I.Frame Thunderbolt in 1971. `J` reg. Good deal as Slocombes were clearing out the previous years stock. Best bike he had, better than the Spitfire & Rocket three he subsequently had. Like all british bikes of that tragic period, a good one was o.k., A bad one was dreadful...

Re: BSA thoughts?
Its the best bike B.S.A. ever made providing it is pre oil in frame & has the Triumph twin leading shoe front brake. NOT the conical hubs. If its cheap, buy it & get rid of the Commando. Had 8 of those & never found one that was totally satisfactory. 3 grand would be a fair price for a v...

Change your handle bar lever to one with with a better leverage ratio. Yamaha XJ900S diversion is quite good. I always thought the rotary clutch spring pressure was quite light.New one possibly not manufactured to correct specification? In over 300,000 miles on rotary`s I have never had cause to chan...

You could have the wrong wattage bulbs in the indicators. Worth checking.I would replace the rectifier with a solid state one from Maplins. About £2.00 each so buy a couple.See how you get on with that.I can see no reason to go the Podtronics route.Derek F.

I think your problem is poor battery performance but it should start easily with a bump.Definetly problems arise if you have washed the chambers dry thus losing compression.Derek F.

In my experience a new water seal does sometimes leak until it "beds in". I have had this situation a few times including the last seal replacement 3 or 4 months ago. Ocassionally a drip of water will come out of the tell tale hole when the engine has been running very hot as well at any t...

Ha!! Everyday a million brain cells die, or something, but in my case probably a lot more. In my head I am convinced it was 3006 but in reality with the passage of more than 20 years it probably was 3016 if that ties with the reg. no.Derek F.

I examined an Aurora displayed by Norton in Douglas at the T.T. in 1979/80? where they were guaging the market for it. I particularly admired the flip up rear mudguard making rear wheel removal a doddle.I took part in a survey/questionaire being carried out by, or on behalf of Norton.I admired the b...
